How to Add an Accountant as an Authorized Representative on Your CRA Account

Managing taxes can be stressful—but it doesn’t have to be. By adding A.B.T PRO Inc. as your authorized representative on your CRA account, we can securely access your tax information, communicate with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on your behalf, and assist with tax filings more efficiently.

This guide explains how to add an accountant as an authorized representative on CRA My Account in just a few minutes.

Once authorized, we can help you with services such as personal tax filing, corporate tax returns, bookkeeping services, and tax planning.

Why Add an Authorized Representative to Your CRA Account?

Authorizing an accountant allows them to help manage your tax matters directly with the CRA.

Tax Preparation

We can retrieve important documents such as:

  • T4 slips

  • T5 slips

  • Notices of Assessment

  • Tax account balances

This allows us to accurately prepare your personal tax return or corporate tax filing

CRA Communication

Instead of dealing with the CRA yourself, we can communicate with them directly regarding:

  • notices

  • missing information

  • tax account issues

Audit Support

If the CRA requests documentation or clarification, we can respond on your behalf.

Business Tax Accounts

For business owners, authorization allows us to access:

  • GST/HST accounts

  • payroll accounts

  • corporate tax accounts

This helps us support clients with bookkeeping service, controller services, and fractional CFO services.

Step-by-Step: Adding an Authorized Representative in CRA My Account

1. Sign in to CRA My Account

Go to CRA My Account and log in using either:

  • your CRA login credentials

  • a sign-in partner (such as your bank)

4. Enter Our RepID

This is the recommended level for working with an accountant.

6. Enable Online Access

Choose “Yes” to allow us to access your account electronically.

7. Set Expiry Date

You can choose:

Review the authorization details and submit.

In most cases, CRA processes the authorization instantly.
